RBMA Paris - Photo Highlights: November 4

Nearing the end of Term 1, RBMA participants were treated to lectures from soundtracker extraordinaire and producer Brian Reitzell and Lætitia Sadier, lead singer of Stereolab. With a vast résumé as a music supervisor as well as being a former member of Redd Kross and Air, Reitzell showed off some of his alternative music-making tools and talked about the travails of clearing music for film. The prolific Sadier discussed her extensive body of work and her theory of art as a political tool, playing a 7” from pre-Daft Punk outfit Darlin’, too.

The night’s show was all about bass, featuring Homesick’s propulsive footwork-jungle, Sevdaliza’s chilly R&B, the profane energy of DJ Funk and several other participants showing off their DJ skills at Le Petit Bain on the Seine. One surprise? Southern Belle boss Wheez-ie dropping a version of Plastikman’s “Spastik” prominently featuring a saxophone breakdown.
