Gallery: Revolutions On Air Roundtable

The early ‘80s was a uniquely fertile time for music, with a plethora of new and exciting genres – dance, electro, and hip-hop – developing all at once. Ingenuity was coming from clubs and the streets, and new sounds were being tested out on the millions who were listening to the radio. As a companion piece to the Red Bull Music Academy documentary Revolutions On Air: The Golden Era of New York Radio 1980 - 1988, we invited the era’s most important players for a roundtable discussion: with insights from Marley Marl, Tony Humphries, DJ Red Alert, Merlin Bobb, Ted Currier, Aldo Marin, and Chuck Chillout, all hosted by EgoTrip's Chairman Mao.
