There were several inspiring moments during Sheila E.’s lecture, but an especially poignant one came when the famed percussionist relayed her relentless approach to making her voice heard in the music industry: “Can I go through that door? No? I’m gonna come through the window.” Prolific mixer and producer Andrew Scheps came through afterwards to impart years of knowledge, from his time as Stevie Wonder’s keyboard tech and working with Red Hot Chili Peppers to the best ways of using parallel compression and how he won the loudness wars.

At La Gaîte lyrique, participants Dub I Prosto Derevo and Sobrenadar showed their stuff opening for Lætitia Sadier of Stereolab plus Nicolas Godin of Air in the world premiere of his new Contrepoint A/V show.
