Studio Science: Ango on Producing Vocalists
Collaboration is at Ango’s core, having worked with Jacques Greene, Machinedrum and the wider LuckyMe family over the years. He boasts a musical mindset rooted in experimental R&B that came to fruition on his album Another City Now, and self-released mixtape Serpentine. Having recently built his own recording studio from scratch in his new home of Toronto, he knows a thing or two about creating the ideal environment for making music, which is why we asked him to give a session devoted to getting the best vocals possible on a recording. He went through a great deal of technical tips and even offered up a few personal ones along the way.
