Photo highlights from our thrilling events at Notting Hill Carnival 2017

After a two-year hiatus, Red Bull Music Academy returned to Notting Hill Carnival in 2017 for two days of parties. Things kicked off with the Red Bull Music Academy Sound System on Sunday, August 27th, before we took to the streets on the following Monday with a carnival float created in conjunction with local masquerade band Mangrove.
The lineup for the first day, taking place at Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance, featured Jamaican dancehall star Spice and British rapper Stefflon Don, as well as Mixpak boss Dre Skull, Afrobeat trailblazers Belly Squad and AfroWave pioneer Afro B, as well as a very special surprise appearance by Nigeria’s global superstar, Wizkid. Monday was an equally exciting affair, with Mangrove, who have been participating in Carnival for more than thirty years and are one of its most prominent steel bands, joined by Trinidadian soca stars Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons and Olatunji, as well as the Heatwave and Jus Now.
Here are some colorful photo highlights from both of RBMA’s events at Notting Hill Carnival 2017.
