Heinz Zellermayer and Berlin’s Never-Ending Party
That Berlin is one of the very few cities without a curfew is a legacy of the city’s Cold War history – and the accomplishment of one man in particular. This comic, illustrated by Liam Cobb and written by Cristina Plett, depicts the meeting between West Berlin hotelier Heinz Zellermayer and US Colonel Frank Howley that led to a complete abolition of the city’s curfew in 1949 – making way for the endless party nights we still enjoy today.
