Gallery: RBMA Culture Clash Rotterdam

Photos from our first Culture Clash in the Netherlands

The first ever Red Bull Music Academy Culture Clash in the Netherlands took place in Rotterdam at the cavernous Rotterdam Ahoy on May 26th, 2016, following a string of other Culture Clash events in cities such as London, New York, Milan and Miami. Inspired by traditional Jamaican sound clash culture, the RBMA Culture Clash celebrates the heritage of the soundsystem and the culture’s influence on contemporary dance music, hip hop, dancehall and more.

That influence was readily evident in Rotterdam, where Dutch hip hop heavyweight Typhoon paired with King Shiloh Soundsystem in a four-way battle against the Appelsap collective, Mr. Polska & Boaz van de Beatz and the old-school representatives Moortje, Darkraver & Paul Elstak AKA Team Legends, who asserted their legacy by triumphing over the three other collectives in a pitched battle to bring home the Culture Clash crown.
